Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Visit Brunei and Singapore for Strengthening Ties
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will be making official visits to Brunei and Singapore from September 3-5, as announced by the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA). This will be the first-ever bilateral visit by an Indian PM to Brunei.
Visit to Brunei
PM Modi will visit Brunei from September 3-4 at the invitation of Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah. The visit coincides with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic ties between India and Brunei. The visit aims to strengthen cooperation in various sectors including defense, trade, energy, space technology, health, and culture.
Visit to Singapore
After Brunei, PM Modi will travel to Singapore from September 4-5 at the invitation of Singaporean Prime Minister Lawrence Wong. During the visit, PM Modi will meet with President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and business leaders to review the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership and discuss regional and global issues.
Recent India-Singapore Ministerial Dialogue
On August 26, Union Ministers Nirmala Sitharaman, S Jaishankar, Piyush Goyal, and Ashwini Vaishnaw participated in the second India-Singapore Ministerial Dialogue. The dialogue explored cooperation in digital, skill development, sustainability, healthcare, connectivity, and advanced manufacturing.
EAM Jaishankar expressed appreciation for the commitment of Singaporean leaders to deepening the India-Singapore relationship. He also conveyed warm greetings from President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi to Singaporean leaders.
