Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in New York on Sunday to attend the UN Summit of the Future. Upon his arrival at Hotel Lotte Palace, he was greeted by enthusiastic members of the Indian diaspora, who chanted slogans like ‘Modi! Modi!’ and ‘Bharat Mata ki Jai’.
Earlier in the day, Modi landed at John F. Kennedy International Airport. The Spokesperson for the Ministry of External Affairs, Randhir Jaiswal, confirmed that Modi will chair key bilateral meetings during his visit. Jaiswal also shared a post on X, highlighting Modi’s agenda in New York.
Members of the Indian community expressed their excitement to meet the Prime Minister. One member mentioned, ‘We are here to welcome our PM Narendra Modi. We are very excited to meet & greet him personally.’ Another woman shared a handmade portrait made by a child with Type 1 diabetes, thanking Modi for providing insulin.
Before arriving in New York, Modi attended the Quad Leaders’ Summit in Wilmington, Delaware, hosted by President Joe Biden. The summit was a farewell event for both Biden and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida, who are stepping down from their respective offices.
