Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s Major Agricultural Initiatives in Washim, Maharashtra

On Friday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced a series of initiatives in Washim, Maharashtra, aimed at boosting the agricultural and animal husbandry sectors. These initiatives are valued at approximately Rs 23,300 crore.

Key Initiatives Launched

The Prime Minister disbursed the 18th installment of the PM-KISAN Samman Nidhi, providing around Rs 20,000 crore to 9.5 crore farmers. Additionally, the 5th installment of the NaMo Shetkari Mahasanman Nidhi Yojana was launched, benefiting about 90 lakh farmers in Maharashtra with Rs 1,900 crore.

More than 7,500 projects under the Agriculture Infrastructure Fund (AIF) were dedicated, along with 9,200 Farmer Producer Organisations (FPOs) and five solar parks across Maharashtra. A Unified Genomic Chip for cattle and indigenous sex-sorted semen technology were also introduced.

Empowering Farmers and Women

Prime Minister Modi emphasized the government’s commitment to empowering farmers and women, highlighting the Ladki Bahin Yojna, which strengthens women’s capabilities. He stated, “Our government’s every decision, every policy is committed to Viskit Bharat, and our farmers are a major foundation of this vision.”

Infrastructure and Financial Support

The initiatives include custom hiring centers, primary processing units, warehouses, sorting and grading units, cold storage projects, and post-harvest management projects. The total funds released under PM-KISAN now amount to Rs 3.45 lakh crore.
