Prime Minister Narendra Modi Highlights India’s Green Transition and Tech Growth in New York
Prime Minister Narendra Modi praised India’s low carbon emissions and green transition efforts during a speech in New York. He highlighted India’s tradition of loving nature and its commitment to renewable energy sources like solar, wind, and hydro. Modi stated, “We have no role in destroying the world.”
Addressing the Indian diaspora, Modi said, “Since 2014, India has increased its solar installation capacity by 30 times. We want to make every household in India a solar power home.” He emphasized the creation of green jobs and India’s progress in education, skill, research, and innovation.
Modi also discussed India’s ambitious goals set during COP26, including reaching 500 GW of non-fossil electricity capacity and achieving net-zero emissions by 2070. He noted that India is a launching pad for new technologies and aims to see ‘Made in India’ semiconductor chips in devices globally.
“India is not going to stop now; India is not going to slow down now,” Modi said, highlighting India’s growing 5G market and future plans for 6G technology. He will meet with US CEOs to discuss collaborations in AI, quantum computing, and biotechnology.
Earlier, Modi participated in the Quad Leaders’ Summit with Australian PM Anthony Albanese, Japanese PM Fumio Kishida, and US President Joe Biden.
