In the Vaishnava tradition, this month is also called Damodar month, named after Lord Krishna’s epithet, Damodar.
Dev Deepawali: The Diwali of the Gods
Dev Deepawali, celebrated on the full moon night of Kartika, is known as “the Diwali of the Gods.” It marks the fifteenth lunar day of the Hindu month of Kartik and is associated with Prabodhini Ekadashi, which signifies the end of Chaturmas, a period when Lord Vishnu is believed to be in divine slumber. During this festival, the riverfront ghats of the Ganges, from Ravidas Ghat to Rajghat, are illuminated with over a million glowing earthen lamps, creating a breathtaking spectacle.
