Prime Minister Narendra Modi Celebrates Navratri with a Special Garba Tribute

New Delhi, India – Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to Maa Durga during Navratri by writing a special garba. In a post on X, he expressed his devotion to Maa Durga’s power and grace through his composition titled #AavatiKalay. He shared, “It is the auspicious time of Navratri and people are celebrating in different ways, united by their devotion to Maa Durga. In this spirit of reverence and joy, here is #AavatiKalay, a Garba I wrote as a tribute to Her power and grace. May Her blessings always remain upon us.”

PM Modi also expressed gratitude to Purva Mantri, a talented upcoming singer, for her melodious rendition of the garba. He thanked her for bringing the composition to life.

Earlier, on October 3, PM Modi extended his greetings to fellow Indians on the first day of Navratri, wishing everyone an “auspicious” festival. He wrote, “I wish all my countrymen a very Happy Navratri. May this holy festival dedicated to Shakti Vandana prove to be auspicious for everyone. Jai Mata Di!”

Navratri, meaning ‘nine nights’ in Sanskrit, is a festival dedicated to the worship of Goddess Durga and her nine avatars, known as Navdurga. Celebrated with great devotion across India, it includes rituals and prayers honoring the goddess in her various forms. Hindus observe four Navratris throughout the year, but Chaitra Navratri and Shardiya Navratri are the most widely celebrated, coinciding with seasonal changes.

In North India, particularly in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar, and Madhya Pradesh, Navratri celebrations include the Ramlila, a dramatic re-enactment of scenes from the Ramayana, culminating in Vijayadashami with the burning of King Ravana’s effigies.
