Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the first Indian Prime Minister born after Independence, spoke to the Indian community in New York at the ‘Modi and US’ event held at Nassau Coliseum. He shared his dedication to good governance and a prosperous India, stating, “From the very first day, my heart and mission have been very clear.”

Modi highlighted the significance of India’s recent elections, which saw his government return to power for a historic third consecutive term. He noted, “This mandate of the people of India has great importance. In this third term, we have to achieve big targets.”

He also spoke about the upcoming US elections, comparing them to India’s recent elections, which had almost double the number of voters as the total population of America. Modi expressed pride in India’s democratic process and its scale.

Reflecting on his journey, Modi mentioned that he never expected to enter politics or become a chief minister, but destiny led him there. He served as the longest-serving Chief Minister of Gujarat before becoming Prime Minister. The Bharatiya Janata Party-led NDA secured 293 seats in the Lok Sabha elections, with BJP winning 240 seats on its own.
