Prime Minister Modi Visits Ukraine: Talks Peace with President Zelenskyy
Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Ukraine, marking the first visit by an Indian PM to the European nation since India established diplomatic ties with Ukraine in 1992. During his visit, Modi emphasized that dialogue is the only solution to the conflict in Ukraine and expressed India’s readiness to play an active role in achieving peace.
The visit was welcomed by the United States. National Security Communications Advisor John Kirby stated that the US appreciates any country willing to help end the conflict in Ukraine, provided it includes conversations with the Ukrainians and aligns with President Zelenskyy’s vision for a just peace. Kirby emphasized, “Nothing about Ukraine without Ukraine.”
During their bilateral meeting, Prime Minister Modi told President Zelenskyy, “India was never neutral, we have always been on the side of peace.” He further stated that India is ready to contribute actively to the path of peace and progress.
India and Ukraine signed four agreements during PM Modi’s visit:

- MoU on Cooperation in the field of Medical Products Regulation
- MoU on Indian Humanitarian Grant Assistance for Implementation of High Impact Community Development Projects
