Prime Minister Narendra Modi will meet the Indian diaspora at Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum in New York on September 22 during his US visit. Suhag Shukla, head of the organizing committee, highlighted the event as a celebration of the Indian-American community and US-India partnership. Over 25,000 people registered for the event, which has a capacity of 13,000. Jagdish Sewhani, another organizer, emphasized the extensive preparations for the event, which will showcase India’s cultural diversity.

Event Details

The event, named ‘Modi and US,’ is a significant gathering for the Indian-American community. Suhag Shukla stated, “Modi and US is really about India and US. It’s a celebration of Indian-American diaspora, our love for homeland and also for the US-India partnership… The Indian diaspora is part of India’s soft power. We are the cultural ambassadors… which exemplifies unity in diversity.”

Overwhelming Response

Shukla mentioned that 25,000 people had registered for the passes, although the venue can only accommodate 13,000 people. “The response to the programme was overwhelming and I think overwhelming is an understatement,” she said.

Extensive Preparations

Jagdish Sewhani, another head of the organizing committee, shared that they have been working tirelessly to ensure the event’s success. “This is a magnificent event which is going to take place… We are so blessed and lucky that after 10 years PM Modi is going to address us… For the past several days we have been working day and night to make this programme a huge success,” he said.

Quad Summit

Prime Minister Modi, along with other world leaders, will arrive in Wilmington for the Quad Summit hosted by US President Joe Biden. This will be the first time President Biden has invited a foreign leader to his hometown, reflecting his close relationship with the leaders of India, Australia, and Japan.
