In a show of solidarity, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached out to Nepal following a severe natural disaster. Last week, heavy flooding and landslides in Nepal resulted in the tragic loss of over 236 lives. Indian Ambassador to Nepal, Naveen Srivastava, shared that Prime Minister Modi wrote to Nepal’s Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli, expressing condolences and offering support.

Ambassador Srivastava stated, “On behalf of the Government of India, we extend our sincere condolences for the recent floods that have caused significant loss of life and property. As Prime Minister Modi mentioned in his letter to Prime Minister Oli, India stands with Nepal during this challenging time and is ready to provide any necessary assistance for relief and reconstruction efforts.”

The disaster has left 19 people missing and injured 173 individuals, according to Nepal Police. Rescue operations have saved 17,120 people from affected areas. Efforts are ongoing to clear roads blocked by the floods and landslides, and authorities have advised people to check with local police before traveling long distances.

The Nepalese government is providing emergency relief, including food and free medical treatment for the injured. The Home Ministry reported that thousands have been rescued across various provinces, with search and rescue operations nearing completion. Relief activities are ongoing in districts like Kathmandu, Lalitpur, and Bhaktapur, with support from donor agencies.
