Prime Minister Modi Praises Araku Coffee and Snow Peas in Mann Ki Baat
In the 111th episode of the ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the global presence of local Indian products, specifically mentioning Araku coffee from Andhra Pradesh and snow peas from Jammu and Kashmir.
Araku Coffee
Prime Minister Modi highlighted the rich flavor and aroma of Araku coffee, which is grown in large quantities in the Alluri Sita Rama Raju district of Andhra Pradesh. He noted that about 1.5 lakh tribal families are involved in its cultivation, and the Girijan cooperative has played a significant role in promoting it. This has increased the income of these farmers significantly. Modi recalled tasting this coffee with Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister Chandrababu Naidu and mentioned its popularity at the G-20 summit in Delhi.
Snow Peas from Jammu and Kashmir
Modi also praised the efforts of the people of Jammu and Kashmir in making local products global. He mentioned that the first consignment of snow peas was sent to London from Pulwama, thanks to the efforts of Abdul Rashid Mir of Chakura village. Mir combined the lands of other farmers to grow snow peas, which are now reaching international markets.
