Wilmington (Delaware) [US], September 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi thanked US President Joe Biden for hosting him at his residence in Greenville, Delaware. Modi described their talks as extremely fruitful, discussing both regional and global issues.

Modi shared on social media, ‘I thank President Biden for hosting me at his residence in Greenville, Delaware. Our talks were extremely fruitful. We had the opportunity to discuss regional and global issues during the meeting.’

President Biden also expressed his thoughts on social media, stating, ‘The United States’ partnership with India is stronger, closer, and more dynamic than any time in history. Prime Minister Modi, each time we sit down, I’m struck by our ability to find new areas of cooperation. Today was no different.’

The US delegation included Secretary of State Antony Blinken, National Security Advisor Jake Sullivan, and US Ambassador to India Eric Garcetti. The Indian delegation comprised External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar, Indian Ambassador to the US Vinay Mohan Kwatra, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri.

This meeting could be the last bilateral meeting between the two leaders, as President Biden is in the final month of his presidency, with the US Presidential Election scheduled for November 5, 2024.

Following the bilateral meeting, the QUAD (Quadrilateral Security Dialogue) summit began, featuring Prime Minister Modi, Australian PM Anthony Albanese, and Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. The Quad aims to support an open, free, and inclusive Indo-Pacific region.

The sixth Quad Leaders’ Summit is a ‘farewell’ summit for both President Biden and Prime Minister Kishida before they step down from their respective offices. The next Quad summit will be hosted by India.
