Prime Minister Modi Visits Laos

Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Vientiane, the capital of Laos, to meet with the Prime Minister of Laos, Sonexay Siphandone. This visit was at the invitation of the Laos Prime Minister. During the visit, India and Laos signed several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) in the presence of both leaders.

Significant Meetings and Events

On Thursday, PM Modi participated in the 21st ASEAN-India Summit, marking a decade of India’s Act East Policy. Upon his arrival in Vientiane, he was warmly welcomed by senior ministers of the Laos government and received a ceremonial Guard of Honour. He also interacted with the Indian community in Vientiane.

Meetings with Other Leaders

During the ASEAN-India Summit, PM Modi met with several world leaders. He had discussions with Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim, and Japan’s newly appointed Prime Minister Shigeru Ishiba. He also held his first meeting with New Zealand’s Prime Minister Christopher Luxon.
