Prime Minister Modi Expresses Grief Over Nepal Bus Accident Involving Jalgaon Residents
Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over a tragic bus accident in Nepal that killed 27 people, including several residents from Jalgaon, Maharashtra. The accident occurred on Friday when the bus, traveling from Pokhara to Kathmandu, veered off the road and fell into a river basin.
In his address at the Lakhpati Didi Sammelan in Jalgaon, PM Modi said, “I would like to express my grief over the Nepal bus accident. In this accident, we have several people from Jalgaon. I express my condolences to all the bereaved families.”
He assured that the injured were receiving proper treatment and mentioned that the Indian government immediately contacted Nepal following the accident. Union Minister Raksha Khadse was sent to Nepal to assist, and the Indian Air Force transported the bodies back to India.
The Indian Air Force’s C-130 J aircraft carrying the mortal remains of 25 Indian pilgrims landed at Jalgaon Airport in Maharashtra on Saturday. The military aircraft flew into Bharatpur city in Chitwan district, near the Tanahun district, where the bus had crashed.
Union Minister of State for Youth Affairs and Sports, Raksha Nikhil Khadse, and Maharashtra legislator, Sanjay Shubhakar, visited Nepal to check on the health condition of the injured Indian nationals. They met all 16 injured individuals undergoing treatment at the Tribhuvan University Teaching Hospital in Kathmandu and received updates.
Khadse thanked the Nepal government and the Indian Embassy in Kathmandu for their prompt assistance in the search and rescue operations and the treatment of the injured.
