Prime Minister Modi Encourages India to Cheer for Athletes in Paris Olympics 2024
New Delhi, India – Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called on the people of India to support their athletes as they prepare for the Paris Olympics, starting on July 26 and ending on August 11. In his monthly radio show, Mann ki Baat, PM Modi expressed his excitement and best wishes for Team India.
Memories of Tokyo Olympics
PM Modi reminisced about the Tokyo Olympics, where India won seven medals, including a gold, two silver, and four bronze. He highlighted the hard work of the athletes who have participated in nearly 900 international events to prepare for Paris 2024.
New Excitements in Paris Olympics
PM Modi mentioned that this Olympics will have some firsts for India. Both men’s and women’s teams have qualified in table tennis, and the Indian shotgun team includes talented female shooters. Indian athletes will also compete in new categories in wrestling and horse riding.
Achievements in 2023
This year, Indian athletes have already achieved significant success. India secured its best-ever medal tally in the World Para Athletics Championships in Japan with 17 medals. Additionally, a 17-year-old chess prodigy made history by winning the FIDE Candidates Chess Tournament 2024.

PM Modi urged everyone to use the hashtag #Cheer4Bharat to support the athletes. He promised to meet the Indian team and encourage them on behalf of the nation.
