Prime Minister Modi Chairs NITI Aayog Meeting with Chief Ministers in Delhi
Prime Minister Narendra Modi will chair the 9th Governing Council Meeting of NITI Aayog on Saturday at the Rashtrapati Bhavan Cultural Centre. The theme for this year’s meeting is ‘Viksit Bharat@2047’, focusing on making India a developed nation by 2047.
Chief Ministers in Attendance
Several Chief Ministers from BJP-ruled states have arrived in Delhi to attend the meeting. Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant mentioned that he would present Goa’s issues and demands at the meeting. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhjajanlal Sharma, and Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma are among those attending.
Boycott by Non-BJP Chief Ministers
Several non-BJP Chief Ministers have decided to boycott the meeting, citing unfair treatment in the Union Budget. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister MK Stalin was the first to announce the boycott, followed by Congress Chief Ministers Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu of Himachal Pradesh, Siddaramaiah of Karnataka, and Revanth Reddy of Telangana. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren, and Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan are also expected to skip the meeting.
Mamata Banerjee’s Protest
In a surprising move, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has decided to attend the meeting. She stated that she would protest against the political discrimination faced by Bengal and other opposition states at the NITI Aayog meeting.
