Prime Minister Narendra Modi recently visited Jamui, Bihar, to celebrate ‘Janjatiya Gaurav Divas’ and honor tribal leader Bhagwan Birsa Munda on his 150th birth anniversary. During his visit, he highlighted the achievements of Droupadi Murmu, India’s first tribal President, and her role in the ‘PM Janman Yojana’.

Prime Minister Modi praised President Murmu for her dedication to improving the lives of the most backward tribal communities. The ‘PM Janman Yojana’, a scheme worth Rs 24,000 crores, has provided ‘pakke-ghar’, water through the ‘Har Ghar Nal Yojana’, and better road connectivity to tribal families.

Preserving Tribal Heritage

Modi emphasized the government’s efforts to preserve tribal heritage, including the establishment of museums and research centers. He mentioned the inauguration of two tribal research centers in Srinagar and Sikkim and the development of the National Institute of Sowa Rigpa in Leh.

Development Projects

On this occasion, Modi unveiled development projects worth Rs 6,640 crore, focusing on infrastructure, training, and employment opportunities for tribal youth. He also released a commemorative coin and postage stamp in honor of Birsa Munda, a hero of the Indian tribal freedom struggle.
