Prime Minister Modi Approves New BioE3 Policy for Green Growth and Job Creation

The Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, has approved the BioE3 Policy to boost biomanufacturing in India. Information and Broadcasting Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw announced that the policy will support research, development, and entrepreneurship, creating jobs and promoting green growth.

The policy aims to develop a sustainable biomanufacturing ecosystem, focusing on areas like climate-resilient agriculture and bio-based products. This aligns with India’s ‘Net Zero’ and ‘Lifestyle for Environment’ initiatives.

High performance biomanufacturing will produce a range of products from medicine to materials, addressing farming and food challenges. The policy will establish Biomanufacturing & Bio-AI hubs and Biofoundry to accelerate technology development and commercialization.

The BioE3 Policy will focus on strategic sectors such as high-value bio-based chemicals, biopolymers & enzymes, smart proteins & functional foods, precision biotherapeutics, climate-resilient agriculture, carbon capture & its utilization, and marine and space research.

This initiative will foster a future that is more sustainable, innovative, and responsive to global challenges, laying down the Bio-vision for Viksit Bharat.
