Prime Minister Modi Announces New Indian Consulates in Boston and Los Angeles
Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Sunday that India will open two new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles, USA. This move aims to strengthen the relationship between India and the United States.
Addressing the Indian Diaspora
Speaking to the Indian community at the Nassau Coliseum in New York, PM Modi highlighted the growing partnership between the two countries. He said, “The partnership between America and India is growing stronger. Our partnership is aimed at global good, and we are increasing cooperation in every sector. We have taken your convenience into consideration.”
Last year, Modi announced a new consulate in Seattle and sought suggestions for additional locations. Based on these suggestions, Boston and Los Angeles were chosen.
Strengthening Ties
During his last visit to the US in June 2023, PM Modi and US President Joe Biden announced plans to open new consulates in each other’s countries. The US will open consulates in Bengaluru and Ahmedabad, while India will operationalize its Seattle consulate and open new ones in Boston and Los Angeles.
Global Impact
PM Modi also spoke about the global situation, noting that 2024 is crucial due to ongoing conflicts and celebrations of democracy. He emphasized that India’s goal is to increase its positive impact globally, not its dominance. “We don’t want our supremacy in the world, but to increase cooperation in the prosperity of the world,” he said.
Modi concluded by stating that India and America are united in celebrating democracy.
