Prime Minister Modi and Spanish PM Pedro Sanchez Inaugurate TATA Aircraft Complex in Vadodara
In Vadodara, Gujarat, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the opening of the TATA Aircraft Complex, which will manufacture C-295 aircraft. This facility is expected to significantly contribute to the design and production of civil aircraft, addressing future needs both in India and globally. PM Modi also spoke about the advancements in India’s defense manufacturing ecosystem, attributing its success to strategic decisions made by the government a decade ago. He mentioned the expansion of private sector involvement, the transformation of Ordinance Factories into seven major companies, and the strengthening of organizations like DRDO and HAL. Additionally, two significant defense corridors have been developed in Uttar Pradesh and Tamil Nadu, injecting new energy into the defense sector.
Earlier in the day, PM Modi, alongside Spanish Prime Minister Pedro Sanchez, inaugurated the TATA Aircraft Complex at the TATA Advanced Systems Limited (TASL) Campus. Under the C-295 program, 56 aircraft are planned, with 16 being delivered from Spain by Airbus and the remaining 40 to be manufactured in India by Tata Advanced Systems Ltd. This facility marks India’s first private sector Final Assembly Line for military aircraft.
