Washington, DC [US], September 24: Prime Minister Modi’s visit to the United States for the Quad Leaders’ Summit and the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 21 has been crucial in enhancing the strategic partnership between the two nations. President Biden and Prime Minister Modi reaffirmed that the US-India Comprehensive Global and Strategic Partnership is a defining relationship of the 21st century.
During the Quad Summit and bilateral discussions, both leaders emphasized the shared interests and priorities of the two democracies to address the urgent challenges of the 21st century. The US-India Strategic Partnership Forum (USISPF) highlighted the significant progress in the US-India Major Defence Partnership, which is vital for security in the Indo-Pacific region.

The success of India’s Chandrayaan-3 mission has paved the way for deeper space collaboration between NASA and ISRO, with plans for joint scientific research on the International Space Station in 2025. Both countries are also facilitating joint research opportunities between their leading scientific institutions and private sector researchers.
Prime Minister Modi’s recent visits to Ukraine and Poland, along with India’s leadership at the G20 Summit, highlight New Delhi’s role as a voice for the Global South and a bridge-builder in global tensions. The US and India will continue to deepen their military partnership to maintain a free and open Indo-Pacific.
Joint efforts in drone technology, jet engine manufacturing, and defence systems are crucial for increased operational coordination and defence innovation. Bilateral and tri-service exercises like Tiger Triumph and Yudh Abhyas are essential for strengthening defence ties and maintaining global security.
Both leaders welcomed India’s agreements under the Indo-Pacific Economic Framework for Prosperity (IPEF), which aims to boost cooperation on trade, supply chains, and clean energy. India will also open new consulates in Boston and Los Angeles, reflecting the strength of the Indian diaspora in the US.
The USISPF thanked President Biden for strengthening bilateral ties and expressed optimism that future US administrations will continue to prioritize the Indo-Pacific region in their geostrategic vision.
