Prime Minister Modi and Leaders Mourn the Passing of Veteran Leader D. Srinivas Garu

Veteran Congress leader D. Srinivas Garu passed away on Saturday at the age of 76 due to a heart attack in Hyderabad. Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his condolences, stating that Srinivas will be remembered for his long years in public service and efforts to empower the poor. Modi’s message also extended thoughts to Srinivas’s family and supporters during this difficult time.

Srinivas was a three-time MLA from Nizamabad (rural) and served as a two-time president of the Andhra Pradesh Congress Committee. He led the party to power in the 2004 and 2009 elections in the undivided state of Andhra Pradesh. After the state was divided into Andhra Pradesh and Telangana, Srinivas resigned from the Congress party and joined the BRS in July 2015.

He is survived by his two sons. His second son, Dharmapuri Arvind, is currently the MP of Nizamabad, while his elder son Sanjay has previously served as the Mayor of Nizamabad.

Former Vice President M Venkaiah Naidu, Chief Minister A Revanth Reddy, Union Minister G Kishan Reddy, Telangana ministers, and senior leaders of the Congress party also expressed their condolences. Telangana Minister of Roads and Buildings and Cinematography Komatireddy Venkat Reddy, Congress Senior Leader V Hanumanth Rao, and Rajya Sabha MP Keshava Rao paid their last respects.
