On October 11, 2024, a senior official from the Ministry of Corporate Affairs announced a significant surge in internship opportunities on the Prime Minister Internship Scheme portal. As of this date, 90,849 opportunities have been posted, with the portal set to open for registration on October 12, 2024.

Participating Companies and Sectors

A total of 193 companies, including major private sector players like Jubilant Foodworks, Maruti Suzuki India, Eicher Motors Ltd, Larsen & Toubro Ltd, Muthoot Finance, and Reliance Industries, have posted internships. These opportunities span 24 sectors, with the Oil, Gas & Energy sector leading, followed by Travel & Hospitality, Automotives, and Banking and Financial Services.

Fields and Locations

Internships are available in over 20 fields such as Operations Management, Production & Manufacturing, Maintenance, and Sales & Marketing. The opportunities are distributed across 737 districts, covering all 37 States and Union Territories, ensuring accessibility nationwide.

Scheme Goals

The government launched the pilot phase of this ambitious scheme, aiming to provide one crore internship opportunities over the next five years. The top 500 companies are expected to offer 1.25 lakh internships during the fiscal year 2024-25.
