President Murmu Visits Raipur for Convocations and New Airport Inauguration

President Murmu’s Visit to Raipur

President Draupadi Murmu was warmly welcomed by Chhattisgarh Governor Ramen Deka and Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai at Swami Vivekananda Airport in Raipur. She is on a two-day visit to Chhattisgarh.

Convocations in Raipur

On October 25, President Murmu will attend the 2nd convocation of AIIMS and the 14th convocation of NIT in Raipur. She will also visit Purkhauti Muktangan at Naya Raipur. On October 26, she will grace the 4th convocation of IIT Bhilai and the 3rd convocation of Pt. Deendayal Upadhyaya Memorial Health Science and Ayush University of Chhattisgarh.

Mahtari Vandan Yojana and Temple Visit

President Murmu will release the 9th instalment amount to 70 lakh women under the Mahtari Vandan Yojana and visit the Lord Jagannath Temple in Raipur.

New Airport Inauguration

Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually inaugurated the Maa Mahamaya airport in Darima village, Surguja district. This new airport will connect Surguja and nearby districts with major cities, enhancing travel options. The airport was developed under the Regional Connectivity Scheme and spans 365 acres, costing Rs 80 crores. It can accommodate 72-seater aircraft and handle 500,000 passengers annually.

Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai highlighted the airport’s role in providing employment and connectivity.
