President Droupadi Murmu Inaugurates Conference of Governors at Rashtrapati Bhavan

New Delhi, August 2: President of India, Droupadi Murmu, inaugurated a two-day Conference of Governors at the Rashtrapati Bhavan in New Delhi. In her address, President Murmu highlighted the importance of the conference in achieving national goals and discussed the implementation of three new criminal justice laws: Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita, and Bharatiya Sakshya Adhiniyam.

President Murmu emphasized the need for better coordination among central agencies and the importance of developing poor and tribal areas. She also encouraged natural farming to improve soil fertility and farmers’ income.

The conference was attended by Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar, Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and Union Home Affairs Minister Amit Shah. Vice President Dhankhar urged governors to promote social welfare schemes, while PM Modi encouraged them to act as a bridge between the central and state governments. Amit Shah discussed the conference’s agenda and urged governors to visit vibrant villages and aspirational districts.

Recent governor appointments were also announced, including Gulab Chand Kataria as Governor of Punjab and Administrator of Chandigarh, Haribhau Kisanrao Bagde as Governor of Rajasthan, Jishnu Dev Varma as Governor of Telangana, Om Prakash Mathur as Governor of Sikkim, Santosh Kumar Gangwar as Governor of Jharkhand, Ramen Deka as Governor of Chhattisgarh, CH Vijayashankar as Governor of Meghalaya, and C.P. Radhakrishnan as Governor of Maharashtra. Lakshman Prasad Acharya was appointed Governor of Assam and given additional charge of Manipur.
