President Droupadi Murmu Highlights AI Opportunities at NIT Raipur Convocation
President Droupadi Murmu emphasized the importance of Artificial Intelligence (AI) during the 14th convocation of the National Institute of Technology (NIT) Raipur. She stated that AI is a global priority and will create opportunities for young people in various fields. President Murmu noted that the 2024 Nobel Prize winners in Physics and Chemistry were recognized for their AI-related work.
She explained that AI tasks, such as artificial neural networks and protein structure prediction, require transcending traditional science and technology boundaries. An interdisciplinary approach is essential for innovation in engineering. India, as a founding member of the Global Partnership on Artificial Intelligence, is committed to this field.
President Murmu highlighted AI’s potential impact on social, political, economic, and strategic areas, offering new paths for young engineers. She urged higher education institutions to focus on low-cost solutions for local issues while maintaining a global perspective, advocating the ‘Think Global, Act Local’ policy.
She encouraged students to prioritize life values, consider societal contributions, and balance personal success with moral values. President Murmu stressed that contributing to others’ welfare enriches personal and social life.
During her visit, President Murmu released the 9th instalment of the Mahtari Vandana Yojana and enjoyed a tribal dance performance. Her two-day visit to Chhattisgarh included attending convocations at AIIMS and NIT in Raipur.
