Economic Growth and Poverty Reduction

President Murmu noted that India has been one of the fastest-growing major economies, with an average growth rate of 8 percent annually from 2021 to 2024. This growth has significantly reduced poverty levels and increased the financial well-being of many citizens. The PM Garib Kalyan Anna Yojana continues to provide free ration to about 80 crore people, ensuring that those who have recently escaped poverty do not fall back into it.

Infrastructure and Technological Advancements

The President praised the advancements in infrastructure, including the expansion of roads, highways, railways, and ports. She also highlighted the government’s promotion of sectors like semiconductors and Artificial Intelligence, which has made India an attractive investment destination.

Global Influence and Social Democracy

India’s successful G-20 Presidency has solidified its role as the voice of the Global South. President Murmu emphasized the importance of social democracy, quoting BR Ambedkar, and stressed the need to reject social hierarchies that cause discord.

Government Initiatives for Social Justice

The government has launched several initiatives for the welfare of Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other marginalized communities. These include reservations in government jobs and higher education, as well as financial assistance programs like PM-SURAJ and the Pradhan Mantri Janjati Adivasi Nyaya Maha Abhiyan. The NAMASTE scheme aims to eliminate the hazardous task of manual sewer and septic tank cleaning.
