President Droupadi Murmu’s Visit to Algeria

On the last day of her state visit to Algeria, President Droupadi Murmu explored the ancient Roman city of Tipasa, the Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania, and Hamma Garden. These sites, located near the coastal city of Tipasa, offered a glimpse into Algeria’s rich cultural and historical heritage. She was accompanied by Algeria’s Minister of Culture, Soraya Mouloudji, and Tipaza Governor, Aboubakr Boucetta.

In a social media post, the President’s official account highlighted the significance of these historical landmarks, noting that Tipasa dates back to the 6th century BC and was a vibrant cultural and trading hub on the Mediterranean. The Royal Mausoleum of Mauretania, from the Numidian era, was also part of her visit.

Earlier, President Murmu was awarded an Honorary Doctorate in Political Science by the Sidi Abdellah Science and Technology Pole University in Algiers. She expressed her gratitude, emphasizing the honor for her country and the importance of addressing young minds dedicated to national development. The doctorate was presented by Kamal Baddari, Algeria’s Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research.

President Murmu’s visit to Algeria is part of a three-nation tour, including Mauritania and Malawi, aimed at strengthening diplomatic, educational, and cultural ties. She will depart from Malawi on October 19, hoping for deeper collaboration between the countries.
