President Droupadi Murmu Celebrates Ayurveda’s Heritage at AIIA’s 8th Foundation Day
On October 9, President of India, Droupadi Murmu, attended the 8th Foundation Day celebration of the All India Institute of Ayurveda (AIIA) in New Delhi. During her visit, she launched the Ayush Aushadhi Pharmacy Programme and unveiled the Shashwat Ayush Expo, aiming to make quality Ayurvedic medicines accessible to all.
In her address, President Murmu highlighted Ayurveda as one of the oldest holistic medical systems, emphasizing its focus on harmony between mind, body, and spirit. She praised the Ministry of Ayush for its efforts in mainstreaming traditional medical systems over the past decade, noting significant advancements in education, research, and public health.
President Murmu expressed confidence in Ayurveda’s global recognition through evidence-based and scientific approaches. She announced that the theme for Ayurveda Day 2024, to be celebrated on October 29, will be “Ayurveda Innovation for Global Health.”
Delhi Lieutenant Governor Vinai Kumar Saxena also attended the event, commending AIIA’s impact on healthcare, having served over 28 lakh beneficiaries. Union Minister of State for Ayush Ministry Prataprao Jadhav and other officials were present as well.
AIIA has treated more than 27 lakh patients through its 44 specialty clinics, showcasing Ayurveda’s holistic approach to health and environmental well-being.
