President Droupadi Murmu and PM Modi Celebrate 10th International Yoga Day

New Delhi [India], June 21: President Droupadi Murmu greeted the global community on International Day of Yoga, emphasizing yoga’s importance for physical, mental, and spiritual well-being. She performed yoga on this special day.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi also celebrated the day by performing yoga at Sher-i-Kashmir International Conference Centre in Srinagar. He urged everyone to make yoga a part of their daily lives, highlighting its benefits for strength, health, and wellness.

PM Modi mentioned that India’s proposal for International Yoga Day was supported by 177 nations at the United Nations. He noted the rise of a new Yoga economy and the trend of Yoga Tourism in India, which is boosting sectors like hospitality and tourism.

This year’s theme, ‘Yoga for Self and Society,’ emphasizes yoga’s role in fostering individual well-being and societal harmony. Since 2015, PM Modi has led Yoga Day celebrations at various iconic locations, including Kartavya Path in Delhi and the United Nations Headquarters in New York.
