New Delhi [India], July 26: President Droupadi Murmu paid tribute to soldiers, praising their courage and extraordinary valor on the 25th anniversary of Kargil Vijay Diwas. In a post, President Murmu urged citizens to draw inspiration from the soldiers’ sacrifice. She said, “Kargil Vijay Diwas is an occasion for a grateful nation to pay tribute to the indomitable courage and extraordinary valor of our armed forces. I pay tribute to each soldier who made the supreme sacrifice while protecting Mother India on the peaks of Kargil in 1999 and bow in reverence to their sacred memory.”

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar also saluted the soldiers’ valor and dedication, stating, “The legacy of their courage and patriotism acts as a guiding light for all Indians.” Defence Minister Rajnath Singh praised the soldiers’ unwavering commitment, valor, and patriotism, ensuring the country’s safety and security. He said, “Their service and sacrifice will continue to inspire every Indian and our coming generations.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will visit Kargil to commemorate the day, pay homage at the Kargil War Memorial, and initiate the Shinkun La Tunnel Project. Kargil Vijay Diwas, observed annually on July 26, marks the success of Operation Vijay in 1999, where Indian forces reclaimed strategic positions in Kargil from Pakistani soldiers and terrorists.
