Claymont, Delaware – US President Joe Biden has returned to his home state of Delaware to host the Prime Ministers of Japan, India, and Australia for the Quad Summit. This year’s summit is being held at Archmere Academy, the high school Biden attended and graduated from in 1961.

Significance of Archmere Academy

Archmere Academy holds a special place in Biden’s heart. He was elected President of his Junior and Senior Class and was a homeroom representative during his time there. Biden also played football and later represented Delaware in the US Senate from 1973 to 2009. Three of his children also attended the school.

Excitement Among Students

The students at Archmere Academy are thrilled to witness world leaders on their campus. Vinay Kumar, an Indian student from Hyderabad studying at Wilmington University, expressed immense pride in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit. Aidan Mahoney, a current student at Archmere, called the campus beautiful and said it was incredible to have such important people meeting there.

Personal Connections

Patrick Bellew, who has a personal connection with the Biden family, shared his happiness about the summit being hosted at Archmere. He mentioned that his father went to high school with Beau Biden, Joe Biden’s son.

About the Quad Summit

The Quad Summit brings together leaders from India, Australia, Japan, and the United States to work for global good and support an open, free, and inclusive Indo-Pacific. The summit is critical for India as it will be hosting the next summit. The last Quad Leaders’ Summit was held in Hiroshima, Japan, in May last year.

Before departing for the US, PM Modi described the Quad as a key group of like-minded countries working for peace, progress, and prosperity in the Indo-Pacific region. Australian PM Anthony Albanese emphasized the group’s commitment to peace, stability, and security in the Indo-Pacific.

President Biden will also host personal meetings with Japanese PM Fumio Kishida and Prime Minister Narendra Modi, along with a dinner for the leaders at the Quadrilateral Summit.
