Washington, DC [US], July 14: US President Joe Biden has condemned the violent attack on former President Donald Trump during a rally in Butler, Pennsylvania. Speaking from Delaware, Biden described the attack as ‘sick’ and emphasized the need for unity to prevent such incidents.

Biden stated, ‘It’s sick; it’s one of the reasons we have to unite this country. We cannot allow for this to be happening. We cannot be like this; we cannot condone this.’ He also mentioned that he attempted to contact Trump, who is with his doctors and appears to be doing well.

The shooting at Trump’s rally is being investigated as a possible assassination attempt. Biden was attending Mass at St. Edmund’s Catholic Church in Rehoboth Beach, Delaware, when the shooting occurred. The White House informed reporters that Biden was briefed on the shooting by Secret Service Director Kimberly Cheatle, Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas, and Homeland Security adviser Liz Sherwood-Randall.

One attendee succumbed to a bullet injury, and the shooter was killed by the Secret Service. Trump sustained an injury to his ear but is expected to be fine. Another spectator is in serious condition. The incident disrupted Trump’s rally, and he was immediately escorted off stage by Secret Service agents.

US Secret Service spokesman Anthony Guglielmi confirmed that protective measures have been implemented and the incident is under active investigation. ‘An incident occurred the evening of July 13 at a Trump rally in Pennsylvania. The Secret Service has implemented protective measures and the former President is safe,’ Guglielmi wrote in a post on X. Further information will be released as it becomes available.
