President Biden and World Leaders at the 2024 QUAD Summit

US President Joe Biden expressed his confidence in the QUAD alliance at the 2024 QUAD Leaders’ Summit, stating that despite challenges, the partnership between the US, India, Australia, and Japan is stronger than ever. Biden took to social media to highlight the strategic alignment and positive impacts of the QUAD in the Indo-Pacific region.

During the summit, Biden announced new initiatives, including providing new maritime technologies to regional partners and expanding the QUAD fellowship to include students from Southeast Asia. He emphasized the importance of cooperation among the QUAD Coast Guards.

The summit was attended by Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Australian Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, and Japanese Prime Minister Fumio Kishida. This was the sixth edition of the QUAD Leaders’ Summit and served as a ‘farewell’ summit for both Biden and Kishida before they step down from their respective offices.

The first QUAD Leaders’ Summit was held virtually in 2021, with subsequent summits held in various locations, including Washington, DC, and Japan. The focus of these summits has been to bolster strategic convergence and advance a shared vision of a free and open Indo-Pacific region.
