Prem Shukla Accuses Sharad Pawar’s Influence in Shiv Sena Amid Maharashtra Elections

Maharashtra Elections: Political Tensions Rise

As the Maharashtra elections approach, Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) spokesperson Prem Shukla has made claims about Sharad Pawar’s influence within the Shiv Sena (UBT). Shukla stated that many believed Pawar’s agent had been active in Shiv Sena, leading to its split.

Accusations of Voter List Manipulation

On October 18, the opposition alliance Maha Vikas Aghadi (MVA) accused the ruling coalition of tampering with voter lists. Maharashtra Congress president Nana Patole alleged that the BJP was removing legitimate voters, despite assurances from the Election Commission for fair elections.

Political Alliances

The MVA, consisting of Congress, Shiv Sena-UBT, and NCP-SP, is challenging the ruling Mahayuti alliance of BJP, NCP, and Shiv Sena (Eknath Shinde faction). Patole accused Chief Minister Eknath Shinde and Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis of being involved in these actions, suggesting the BJP fears losing the elections.

Upcoming Elections

The Maharashtra Assembly elections are scheduled for November 20, 2024. Political parties are preparing for what promises to be a significant electoral battle. In the 2019 elections, the Congress and unified Shiv Sena won 154 out of 288 seats as part of the MVA coalition. This time, the Shiv Sena (UBT), NCP, and Congress are united against the BJP-led Mahayuti alliance.
