Prashant Kishor to Launch Jan Suraaj Party on October 2 in Bihar
Patna (Bihar) [India], September 30: Prashant Kishor, an election strategist-turned-politician, announced that his new political party, Jan Suraaj, will be officially launched on October 2. Kishor stated that he does not wish to become the leader of the party. Instead, he aims to provide a better alternative for the people of Bihar, who have been voting out of fear for the past 25-30 years.
He explained, “At the beginning of the Jan Suraaj campaign, it was said that an important aim of this is to end the political helplessness under which in the last 25-30 years people voted for the BJP out of fear for Lalu Prasad out of fear for the BJP due to the lack of any alternative. For this, it is important for people of Bihar to form a better alternative…That alternative should be a party of all the people of Bihar who want to form this together.”
Kishor emphasized that the biggest challenge is not forming a party or winning elections but awakening society. He encouraged people to vote for their children’s education and employment rather than under pressure from misguided leaders.
The party’s agenda and vision for Bihar will be released in early 2025. Kishor’s dream is to make Bihar a state where people from Jharkhand and Haryana come to work.
When asked about Bihar CM Nitish Kumar and his leadership, Kishor criticized the JD(U) party, stating that it has no future. He mentioned that Nitish Kumar has handed over the system to a few retired advisors, leading to a ‘jungle raj’ of officers.
Earlier on July 28, Kishor announced the launch of Jan Suraaj on Gandhi Jayanti, October 2. The Bihar assembly elections are expected to be held in October-November 2025.
