Union Minister Pralhad Joshi recently spoke about the assembly elections in Jammu and Kashmir, describing them as a ‘festival of democracy’ for the people of Kashmir. He criticized the Congress party for its poor performance, noting that they only secured 6 seats. The Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) emerged victorious with 42 seats, while the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) became the principal opposition with 29 seats. Other parties like the Peoples’ Democratic Party, People’s Conference, CPI-M, and AAP also won seats, along with seven independents.

Joshi also highlighted BJP’s achievement in Haryana, where they are forming the government for the third consecutive time under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership. The oath of office was administered to Omar Abdullah and his council of ministers by Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Saxena at the Sher-i-Kashmir International Convention Centre in Srinagar. Notable attendees included Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, Rahul Gandhi, Akhilesh Yadav, and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra. Omar Abdullah previously served as Chief Minister from 2009 to 2015.
