The Vanchit Bahujan Aaghadi (VBA), led by Prakash Ambedkar, has announced a list of 16 candidates for the upcoming Assembly elections in Maharashtra. This announcement follows the release of an earlier list of 11 candidates in September.

Key Candidates

Among the notable candidates are Jagan Devram Sonawane from Bhusawal, Rutuja Chavan from Mehkar, Sugata Waghmare from Murtijapur, and Prashant Sudhir Gole from Risod. The party has also included Shamibha Patil, a transgender rights activist, as a candidate from the Raver seat, and Kisan Chavan from the Pardhi community for the Shevgaon assembly seat.

Representation for All

Prakash Ambedkar emphasized that the VBA is committed to representing socially and politically excluded communities. He stated, “Staying true to our sacred ideology, we have given representation to the deprived, Bahujan groups to gain true representation and political power, breaking the hegemony of families of certain castes.”

Upcoming Elections

The elections for the 288-member legislative assembly in Maharashtra will take place on November 20, with the counting of votes scheduled for November 23. In the recent parliamentary elections, the opposition MVA outperformed the BJP, securing 30 out of 48 seats in Maharashtra.
