PR Sreejesh Celebrates Olympic Bronze Medal at Eiffel Tower
Paris, August 11: India’s star goalkeeper PR Sreejesh posed with his Olympic bronze medal in front of the iconic Eiffel Tower. Sreejesh retired from international hockey with this medal in Paris. While most players returned to India, Sreejesh stayed with Amit Rohidas for the closing ceremony of the Paris Olympics.

India won consecutive bronze hockey medals for the first time in 52 years, since the 1972 Munich Games. In an exciting match, India overcame a 0-1 deficit against Spain with goals from Harmanpreet Singh. Sreejesh, playing his last game, was emotional as the team celebrated this historic win.
Under coach Craig Fulton, India made history with back-to-back bronze medals. Sreejesh was chosen as a flagbearer for the closing ceremony, along with shooter Manu Bhaker. Sreejesh said, ‘It is the cherry on the cake. It is my last tournament, the last Olympics and I am going out with a medal. Now, I have been chosen to be the flag-bearer. One cannot demand anything more than this.’
