PR Sreejesh and Indian Hockey Team Win Bronze at Paris Olympics
New Delhi, India – August 13: Legendary Indian hockey goalkeeper PR Sreejesh returned to India after helping the team win a bronze medal at the Paris Olympics. The team, led by Harmanpreet Singh, defeated Spain 2-1, marking their second consecutive Olympic medal, a feat last achieved 52 years ago.
The match, held at the Yves-du-Manoir Stadium, was also the farewell game for PR Sreejesh, who played his last international match. Sreejesh expressed his joy, saying, “It feels good. He has been part of many memorable wins for India, including a gold medal in the 2014 Asian Games and a bronze medal in the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games.
Sreejesh has received numerous awards, including the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award in 2021 and the World Games Athlete of the Year 2021. He also won back-to-back FIH Goalkeeper of the Year awards in 2021 and 2022.
