Portugal’s Heartbreaking Loss to France in EURO 2024
Coach Martinez and Ronaldo React
After a tough loss against France in the EURO 2024 quarter-finals, Portugal’s head coach Roberto Martinez shared that the team is still reeling from the defeat. Despite holding 60% of the ball possession, Portugal couldn’t score in 120 minutes, leading to a penalty shootout where they lost 5-3.
Cristiano Ronaldo, who had a disappointing game with only 40 touches and three shots, has not yet decided on his international future. Martinez confirmed that no individual decisions have been made as the team is still processing the loss.
Joao Felix was the only Portuguese player to miss a penalty, which contributed to the team’s defeat. The French side ultimately won the game 5-3 on penalties.
