Police Operation in Chhattisgarh: 9 Naxals Killed in Dantewada-Bijapur Encounter
In Chhattisgarh, police sources confirmed the killing of 9 Naxals during an encounter in the forest at the Dantewada-Bijapur border on Tuesday. The police recovered automatic weapons from the Naxals, including SLR rifles, .303 rifles, and .315 bore rifles. All security personnel involved in the operation are safe, and search operations are ongoing.
The encounter began at 10:30 am after a joint police team received information about the presence of Maoists from the West Bastar Division in the border area. Earlier, on August 29, three women Naxalites were killed in an encounter in the dense forests of Abujhmad in Narayanpur. They were identified as members of the North Bastar Division Committee and the PLGA Company number 5. A large quantity of weapons was recovered from the spot.
On August 24, Union Home Minister assured that the government aims to eliminate Naxalism by March 2026. He discussed measures against Naxal insurgency and infrastructure projects in regions affected by Left Wing Extremism during an inter-state coordination meeting with Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai and other officials.
