Police Officer Dies in Encounter with Terrorists in Jammu and Kashmir

In Jammu and Kashmir, a police officer died and another was injured during an encounter with terrorists in the village of Kog (Mandli) in Kathua district. The Additional Director General of Police, Jammu, confirmed the incident, stating that Head Constable Bashir Ahmed lost his life and an Assistant Sub-Inspector was injured.

Meanwhile, in Kulgam district, two terrorists were killed in a separate encounter. DNA samples have been collected to identify the bodies, and security forces recovered arms and ammunition, including 2 AK-47 rifles, 5 magazines, and pistols. Javed Ahmad Matoo, DIG South Kashmir, mentioned that one of the terrorists might be Umesh Ahmed Wani from Chawalgam village in Kulgam.

Earlier in the day, three army personnel and one police officer were injured in the Kulgam encounter, but their condition is stable. The encounter began after security forces received information about terrorist movements in the Arigam area and started a search operation. The joint operation was conducted by the Chinar Corps of the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
