Madhya Pradesh Police have registered a case against an unidentified person for a cyber crime involving impersonation of Bhopal Collector Kaushlendra Vikram Singh on WhatsApp. The accused messaged the complainant, demanding money, and used the Collector’s photo as a profile picture.

New Methods of Cyber Crime

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police (ADCP) Shailendra Singh Chouhan explained that fraudsters are adopting new methods on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Telegram, and WhatsApp to cheat people. They sometimes pose as celebrities, common citizens, or administrative officers.

Investigation Underway

The complainant lodged a complaint, and the police promptly started an investigation. ADCP Chouhan mentioned that the SIM card used for the WhatsApp account does not belong to the person it is registered under. The police are working to uncover technical details and arrest the main accused.

Chouhan emphasized that the content of the message was not as important as the fact that it was sent in the name of an administrative official. The police are seeking further information from WhatsApp to resolve the case.
