Police Encounter in Amritsar Leads to Arrests

In Amritsar, Punjab, two individuals were arrested following a police encounter near Diamond Avenue. The incident involved gunfire from both sides, resulting in one injury. The police, led by Commissioner Gurpreet Singh Bhullar, acted on information about gunshots fired outside a residence on October 18-19, suspecting inter-gang rivalry.

Commissioner Bhullar stated that the police swiftly identified and apprehended two suspects. During the operation, one suspect was injured in retaliatory firing. The police recovered two pistols, including a sophisticated Glock 9mm, and suspect the involvement of more gang members.

Narcotics Smuggling Arrest

In a separate incident, the Punjab Border Security Force (BSF) and state police arrested a person for attempting to smuggle narcotics near the Amritsar border. The BSF seized 530 grams of suspected heroin and a broken mobile phone. The accused, from Kaholi village, was caught after a joint ambush by BSF and police.
