Police Chiefs from North India Plan for Safe Kanwar Yatra

A meeting chaired by Abhinav Kumar, Director General of Police, Uttarakhand, was held to discuss the upcoming Kanwar Yatra from July 22 to August 2. Officials from Uttar Pradesh, Delhi, Haryana, Punjab, Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Rajasthan, CRPF, Railway Protection Force, and Intelligence Bureau participated both directly and online.

During the meeting, the Director General of Police highlighted that the Kanwar Yatra is a significant religious event affecting not only Haridwar but also neighboring districts and states. The meeting aimed to ensure the event’s safety and peaceful completion with the cooperation of various states and agencies.

Key points discussed included law and order, crowd management, and traffic management. The sensitivity of the Kanwar Yatra has increased, necessitating close monitoring of social media posts related to the event. Efforts will be made to keep Kanwariyas on the designated routes to avoid traffic disruptions on highways. The sacred nature of the Kanwar Yatra must be preserved, and any disturbances will not be tolerated.
