PM Narendra Modi’s Warm Welcome in Singapore and Brunei Visit Highlights
Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a warm welcome from the Indian community as he arrived at a hotel in Singapore. He even played a ‘dhol’ and signed autographs. A woman tied a rakhi to him, and he greeted the crowd and shook hands with them.
PM Modi arrived at Changi Airport for a two-day visit to Singapore. He expressed his excitement about meetings aimed at strengthening India-Singapore relations. He was welcomed by Indian High Commissioner to Singapore Shilpak Ambule and Singapore’s High Commissioner to India, Simon Wong.
During his visit, PM Modi will meet Singapore President Tharman Shanmugaratnam and other leaders, including business leaders. He will review the progress of the India-Singapore Strategic Partnership and discuss regional and global issues.
Before arriving in Singapore, PM Modi visited Brunei. He had extensive talks with Brunei Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah, discussing ways to enhance bilateral ties. PM Modi inaugurated the new Chancery of the High Commission of India in Brunei’s capital, Bandar Seri Begawan, and visited the Omar Ali Saifuddien Mosque.
Secretary East, Ministry of External Affairs Jaideep Mazumdar, stated that PM Modi and the Sultan discussed various areas of cooperation, including defense, trade, space, and health. Brunei plans to start direct flights to India later this year. They also discussed ASEAN-related matters and regional and international issues.
