Prime Minister Narendra Modi has embarked on a two-nation visit to Russia and Austria. He stated that this visit will help India deepen its relationships with these countries.

Visit to Russia

During his visit to Russia, PM Modi will meet with President Vladimir Putin. He expressed his eagerness to discuss various aspects of bilateral cooperation and regional issues. Modi highlighted the special and privileged Strategic Partnership between India and Russia, which has grown over the past decade in areas such as energy, security, trade, investment, health, education, culture, tourism, and people-to-people exchanges. He will also meet the Indian community in Russia.

Visit to Austria

After Russia, PM Modi will travel to Austria, marking the first visit by an Indian Prime Minister to the country in 40 years. He will meet President Alexander Van der Bellen and Chancellor Karl Nehammer. Modi aims to elevate the partnership between India and Austria in innovation, technology, and sustainable development. He will also engage with business leaders to explore trade and investment opportunities and interact with the Indian community in Austria.

Statements from Officials

External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar mentioned the importance of the annual summits between India and Russia, emphasizing the strong history of cooperation between the two nations. He noted the significant growth in the economic relationship with Russia and the opportunity for Modi and Putin to discuss directly.

President Putin will host PM Modi on Monday, and on Tuesday, Modi will attend a community event in Moscow.
