PM Narendra Modi Visits Poland: Celebrates India-Poland Friendship and Announces Youth Exchange Program
Warsaw, Poland, August 22: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the Indian community in Warsaw, highlighting India’s new strategy of maintaining equal closeness with all nations. He emphasized that today’s India aims to connect and develop with everyone, earning global respect as ‘Vishwabandhu’.
PM Modi recalled the historical bond between India and Poland, mentioning how Jam Saheb of Nawanagar, Digvijaysinhji Ranjitsinhji Jadeja, provided shelter to Polish women and children during World War II. He is still remembered in Poland as the ‘Good Maharaja’.
Modi also acknowledged the significant contributions of the Indian diaspora in strengthening bilateral relations. He noted Poland’s prompt assistance during the Gujarat earthquake 20 years ago and his visit to the Good Maharaja Memorial and Kolhapur Memorial in Warsaw.
Announcing the Jam Saheb Memorial Youth Exchange program, PM Modi stated that India will invite 20 Polish youths annually to visit India, fostering cultural exchange and understanding.
Expressing gratitude for the warm welcome, PM Modi appreciated the unity and Indianness of the diaspora in Poland. His visit marks the first by an Indian leader to Poland in 45 years, coinciding with the 70th anniversary of India-Poland diplomatic relations.
Enthusiastic members of the Indian community greeted PM Modi at the Raffles Europejski Warsaw Hotel, expressing joy and admiration for his contributions to India’s development. PM Modi reciprocated their affection, waving and shaking hands with the crowd.
