New Delhi [India], September 3: Prime Minister Narendra Modi is on a three-day visit to Brunei and Singapore to enhance India’s relationships with these countries. Both Brunei and Singapore are key partners in India’s Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Vision.

Visit to Brunei

PM Modi’s visit to Brunei on September 3-4 marks the first time an Indian Prime Minister has visited the nation. This visit coincides with the 40th anniversary of diplomatic relations between India and Brunei. During his stay, PM Modi will meet Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other esteemed members of the Royal family.

PM Modi stated, “Today, I am embarking on a first-ever bilateral visit to Brunei Darussalam. As we celebrate the 40 years of our diplomatic relations, I look forward to my meetings with His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah and other esteemed members of the Royal family to advance our historical relationship to new heights.”

Visit to Singapore

Following his visit to Brunei, PM Modi will travel to Singapore on September 5. In Singapore, he will meet President Tharman Shanmugaratnam, Prime Minister Lawrence Wong, Senior Minister Lee Hsien Loong, and Emeritus Senior Minister Goh Chok Tong. He will also engage with leaders from Singapore’s vibrant business community.

PM Modi expressed, “I look forward to my discussions to deepen our Strategic Partnership with Singapore, particularly in new and emerging areas of advanced manufacturing, digitalization, and sustainable development.”

PM Modi’s visits aim to further deepen India’s ties with Brunei and Singapore, reinforcing their importance in India’s Act East Policy and the Indo-Pacific Vision.
